Apple and Elderflower Dream with Blackberries

It all starts with a dream and our gin-based Apple Dream Cocktail has all the comforting autumnal flavours of apple, elderflower, and blackberry your heart desires for a cosy cocktail night in, snuggled up by a crackling fireplace. It kinda reminds us of a baked cobbler, making this one of our best Fall Cocktails and a warming drink you’ll adore at first sip. Need we say anymore?

Aficionados serve this in a brandy snifter, but a tumbler will do just fine.

If you can find a Pink Lady apple for this cocktail, we think its distinctly sweet taste is the best.

Up the crumble flavour profile and sprinkle a little cinnamon to your apple muddle.

All the Apple Dream Cocktail ingredients you need

The Apple Dream cocktail is a delightful concoction of gin with notes of sweet apple, delicate elderflower, and tart lemon juice, mixed with bubbly club soda and a splash of sweet blackberry liqueur.

You can use any apple at hand, but we love the Pink Lady best as it’s a distinctly sweet apple. For the gin, choose a top-shelf gin like Bulldog, a London Dry Gin with bold botanicals that marry so well with the apple and elderflower liqueur. The final touch is crème de mûre, an age-old French liqueur made from blackberries. Pouring a dash of this over the top of the Apple Dream Cocktail colours the top layer a vibrant purple and infuses the drink with a sweet jammy hit.

Pro tips to make this Apple Dream Cocktail recipe

Although this dreamy number requires a little effort, your work will be rewarded with every sip of this apple delight. Start by muddling the chopped apple in a jug or a mason jar with a dash of the elderflower liqueur to get things going. Once you have a creamy texture, add the ice, gin, and lemon juice. If you have a blender, blitz it up without the ice. Cover and shake to chill the ingredients before straining them into your glass if you aren’t using a blender. Add club soda and a dash of blackberry liqueur. Garnish with a thin slice of apple, blackberries, or a twist of orange.  Aficionados serve this in a brandy snifter, a short-stemmed glass with a wide base that narrows at the top, but if you don’t own one of these a tumbler will do just fine.

  • For an extra level of flavor, muddle a sprig of thyme with the apple.
  • For more crumble flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon to your apple muddle.
  • For extra sweetness, add a dash of caramel or maple syrup
  • Try a few other Apple Cocktail names if you are enjoying the apple theme
  • For a fabulous mocktail, omit the gin and muddle the apple with elderflower cordial and club soda and, just like the recipe, finish with a dash of blackberry syrup

Elderflower liqueur is a French liqueur with a distinct yet subtle flavour that marries so well with apple in this cocktail. If you don’t have a bottle of elderflower liqueur at hand, just use a splash of elderflower cordial.

If a bottle of Crème de Mûre isn’t an easy reach, substitute it for any other berry liqueur like Crème de Framboise, a raspberry liqueur, or a Crème de Cassis, which is a blackcurrant liqueur. You can also add blackberry syrup for similar results.

Want to try your bottle of Crème de Mûre out on other recipes? Be sure to try another autumn favourite, the classic Gin Bramble. It’s just as delicious and so easy.
