How to make a classic Mexican Coffee cocktail

It’s definitely one of the best coffee cocktails out there, but it’s so easy too. It takes just three simple ingredients (four, if you’re adding cream) and zero hard work! Pick your favourite coffee, a good quality coffee liqueur, and an aged reposado tequila (our fave is Espolòn Tequila Reposada) for those extra vanilla and caramel notes, if you can get your hands on one. Serve warm in a mug for extra cosy vibes and add a dusting of cayenne powder if you’re feeling brave.

Mexican Coffee Cocktail Variations

Our recipe is one of the simplest Mexican coffee alcohol drinks you can make! If you fancy something more decadent and impressive, turn it into an affogato dessert by pouring a shot of this warm cocktail over vanilla ice cream. Got leftover mixture? Freeze into spiked coffee ice pops for a fun and nostalgic adults-only dessert. If you want to avoid the caffeine buzz, use decaf coffee.

For an even easier coffee cocktail with a Mexican twist, try a Carajillo cocktail, pronounced kah–rah–hee–yoh. Mexican coffee liquor is added to a glass over ice and topped with freshly brewed espresso. It’s that easy to spice up your caffeine fix.
