What is advocaat?

Advocaat, also called advocatenborrel, is a traditional Dutch alcoholic beverage that brings together the richness of eggs, sugar, and brandy. Since the recipe for this drink uses only egg yolks, it has a very distinctive yellow color.

There are similarities between advocaat and eggnog, but advocaat has a much richer taste, and is always alcoholic, whereas eggnog doesn’t always need to be.

How to serve a Snowball cocktail

The Snowball cocktail can easily be dressed up or down according to your preferences. Some folks like to serve it with a classic cocktail cherry, while others add a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon on top. In fact, you could even use a stencil to create a festive-themed shape like a bell or a star when you do so.

On the other hand, you can also push out the boat and try all sorts of fun cocktail garnish ideas. Bake some gingerbread cookies in festive shapes and make a little slit on the one side so you can slip it onto the rim of a cocktail glass easily. Or how about stirring in some drinks glitter to add a little sparkle? Get creative and put your own spin on it!
