How to rim the cocktail glass for a Key Lime Pie Martini
A classic key lime pie is baked in a graham cracker crust (which is similar to digestive biscuits), so serving your drink with a biscuit rim is the perfect choice. To rim your martini glass with biscuit, follow our easy steps:
- Pour a little simple syrup or pineapple juice into a shallow plate.
- Take a few biscuits, pop them in a zipper bag, and bash them with whatever you have handy. Something like a rolling pin or wine bottle will do the trick. Keep going until you have crumbs.
- Pour the crumbs into another shallow plate.
- Dip the rim of your martini glass into the simple syrup and then into the crumbs to coat the outside edges.
- You can rim your glasses just before serving or pop them into the freezer, ready to use later.
If crackers or biscuits aren’t your thing, you can rim the glass with toasted coconut, shredded pineapple, white chocolate shavings or lime zest sugar for something a little different.
Are you supposed to make a Key Lime Martini with or without cream?
While the go-to recipe contains cream, you can make them without cream by simply leaving it out of the recipe and adding double the amount of cream of coconut. So, if you have vegan or lactose-intolerant friends coming over, simply follow the recipe without using any cream. How are key limes different from normal limes?
Did you know that there are over 20 different lime varieties in the world? And each variety has its own unique subtle differences in acidity levels, tartness, and flavour.
The thing that makes key limes different from normal limes is that they are yellow instead of green, have a stronger aroma, are more tart, and are not overly acidic. If you can’t find key limes, regular limes will be just fine.
