Two Dear Jane cocktails served by a window with a vase of white lilies in the background

This Generation Alpha baby was first poured in 2015, making it one of the newest Negronis on the cocktail block. It was created by Zachary Gelnaw-Rubin during his stint at Attaboy in New York City. While it features the usual suspects of Campari and gin, it showcases a smidge less vermouth than usual.

The twist to Dear Jane lies in the addition of elderflower liqueur, aka bartender’s ketchup (because it’s good in anything). This small change has a big effect, infusing the cocktail with floral and fruity flavours reminiscent of citrus, peach, and pear, along with tropical nuances. It’s a subtle yet brilliant riff on the classic recipe and once again shows the versatility of the mighty Negroni.

QUICK TIPS

01

Chill your glasses for at least 30 minutes before serving.

02

Twist the lemon peel over the glass to release the oils into the cocktail before garnishing.

03

For extra lemon flavour, rub the peel around the rim of the glass before serving.
